Cora Cressy oysters are named after a 5-mast freight schooner that operated in the east coast coal trade from 1902 to 1928. The ship was deliberating sunk in the Keene Narrows of Bremen Maine to serve as a breakwater. Her hull still exists to this day and remains one of the largest surviving wooden hulls in the United States. The Cora Cressy was added to the National List of Historic Places in 1990.
The Cora Cressy oyster is the Signature oyster of the Community Shellfish Company.
